Farewell to the Legend: film review "Creed 2: The Legacy of Rocky Balboa";
"It doesn't matter how hard you can hit. The main thing is how strong a blow you can withstand, get up and move on," Rocky Balboa said to his son Robert in the latest film of the same name about the "Italian stallion."
Back in 2006, it seemed that Sylvester Stallone would no longer appear in front of us in an ordinary hat and with a strange ball in his hand, which he constantly throws. However, American director Ryan Coogler made his adjustments, who persuaded the actor to return to his legendary image in the film "Creed", which was released in 2016.
The spin-off about the son of Apollo Creed received excellent reviews from both critics and viewers, and garnered a good box office. This provided all the prerequisites for the continuation of the story.
Stephen Capel Jr. worked on the new film as a director. Sylvester Stallone himself joined in producing and writing the script (who, by the way, wrote the scripts for all the Rocky films of the same name).
According to the plot, after losing the judges' decision to Ricky Conlan, Adonis Creed becomes a worldwide boxing star and gets a title chance in a fight with old rival Denis Wheeler (in the role of undefeated professional boxer Andre Ward). He wins and becomes the world champion, receiving the belt that his father once owned.
Soon, Ivan Drago, known to all fans of the saga, appears on the horizon (the boxer who killed Adonis' father Appolo Creed in the ring) with her son Victor. They want a duel with Adonis, which eventually happens...
There are several storylines in the film that are intertwined both with each other and with the storylines of previous Rocky films. You can feel the presence of Stallone's hand in the work on the script, which is seen in the drama and the attempt to provide the characters with human versatility.
Sylvester Stallone again demonstrated his remarkable acting (for his role in the first film, he received a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar). Dolph Lundgren also did a great job, which had an extremely epic and rude look. Of course, it is necessary to mention Michael B. Jordan (the performer of the role of Adonis Creed), who reached a new level of physical fitness and was able to master boxing skills even better.
In general, "Creed 2" is not as successful a movie as the first part. It has its drawbacks and for some reason is not as catchy as the previous film (although this is indeed Rocky's last appearance on stage). At the same time, I am convinced that you will not regret if you miss this tape and do not say goodbye to the amazing saga that began back in 1976...
